Packing for Cuba

Four months now, we have been preparing for a trip to Cuba. Travel there is challenging because with the embargo still not completely lifted, some of the things that we are not able to get there include medicines, money, and even commercial flights.

With a lot of looking, we found a “tour” that complies with US regulations but that isn’t too inclusive. It’s not cheap ($3500 total, for both of us), but it is legal!

Along with the tour, we had to buy our flights from Miami, visas, and medical insurance (required by the Cuban government). Also, most websites (along with our tour company’s website) all recommend bringing “gifts” for people that you me and who do things for you while you’re there. So with a couple of trips to the dollar store and Walgreens, we have things people need: soaps, over-the-counter medicines, and nice things like make up and hair clips.

Here are a couple photos of the things we are bringing (does not include Dave’s clothes):

Since we won’t have Internet for the majority of the trip, I’ll be back posting to this blog when we return. See you in the new year!! 🙂
